Composite Resin Fillings
If you have a decayed area of tooth, then it’s likely that you’ll need to see your dentist for a filling. At New Road Dental, we use composite resin fillings to provide a solution that not only feels natural but looks completely natural too, so your smile need not be compromised. The strength and durability of these fillings is very high as they are bonded to the tooth, unlike traditional amalgam fillings.
Why should I get a composite resin filling?
If you have a cavity in one of your teeth or perhaps you wish to replace a broken or old mercury filling then we can help. We can quite easily replace mercury or amalgam fillings with a more natural composite resin filling to complement your natural smile. We can also use composite resins to enhance the appearance of teeth through a natural bonding procedure. This procedure will strengthen and enhance the natural tooth structure leaving you with a consistently strong, healthy smile.
How is a composite resin filling fitted?
Fitting a composite resin filling is a quick pain-free procedure. Whilst you are under local anaesthetic, one of our dentists will simply remove the decayed area of the tooth before preparing the exposed enamel surface so a strong bond can be achieved. The bond resin is then applied to your tooth and cured with a very bright light. Thin layers of composite resin continue to be applied in thin layers until the filling is complete. The layered process gives the filling strength, which is a key factor as to why many favour this style of filling. Finally, our dentists analyse your bite and adjust the height of the filling accordingly to ensure it sits inline with your other teeth ensuring maximum discretion. Your treatment will end with a polish, so you can walk out of the practice with a beautifully natural smile.
