What are dermal fillers?

Dermal Fillers treatment involves injecting a medical solution under the skin with a fine needle to enhance facial features and plump and fill lines, grooves or sunken areas.

Dermal Fillers are used to treat a range of skin concerns:

  • Lack of facial volume causing a sunken look
  • Shallow-to-deep wrinkles and folds — smile, marionette and lipstick lines
  • Lines at corners of the mouth, chin, neck, décolletage and hands

Administered correctly by a medical professional, they can subtly smooth, soften, contour and tone the skin. We can restore youthful plumpness. Plus, enhance and define your features.

DERMAL FILLERS AT A GLANCE

Which dermal filler is right for you?

Several types of injectable dermal fillers are available to meet each patient’s specific needs, and we can help you to decide which one is right for you. During your consultation, your medical professional will assess your skin and listen to your concerns before recommending the best injectables for you. We only use the best quality filler products.

JUVÉDERM®

Juvéderm® is made from biocompatible, biodegradable materials and contains Hyaluronic Acid, which replaces the naturally existing substance in your skin that repairs damaged tissue.

There are different types of Juvéderm®:

Juvéderm® For Lips fills in lip lines and wrinkles whilst hyaluronic acid attracts and retains moisture. Results can last up to a year.

Juvéderm® VOLUMA® with Lidocaine, replenishes lost skin volume to regain a youthful curve to the cheeks and can be used to enhance the overall shape of your face.

Juvéderm® Hydrate™ helps attract and hold moisture within the skin to restore a healthy natural glow.

TEOXANE

Teoxane is composed of Poly-L-lactic acid – a substance formed in the body when you exercise and a synthetic material found in dissolvable stitches and various implants.

Teoxane is used to improve the appearance of hollowed cheeks and sunken eyes. A progressive increase in volume will become apparent as the dermal thickness expands and gives you a fuller, more youthful and fresh-faced look.

DERMAL FILLERS FAQs

Will I look dramatically different?

No. Our practitioners are artists, guided by the natural contours of your face. Your normal facial expressions will be unaffected. During your consultation, we will discuss the best plan for you to achieve subtle results.

After the appointment?

The results can usually be seen immediately. The hyaluronic acid diffuses through your skin. On the surface, it increases the skin’s hydration, softness and suppleness.

On a deeper level, it fills the gaps between cells, smoothes the wrinkles and recreates lost volumes. Depending on your skin type, you may experience some temporary bruising and/or swelling that are confined to the treated area.

Several months after the injection, hyaluronic acid naturally degrades and resorbs like any natural skin component.

What happens during my visit to have fillers?

The practitioner uses a pre-filled sterile filler syringe and a fine needle (or a cannula). The depth of the injection depends on the type of hyaluronic acid gel and the desired results.

Superficial injections efficiently hydrate the skin and revive its glow. Deeper injections fill wrinkles and create volume. In order to optimise your comfort during the injection sessions, Teoxane created the Teosyal® PureSense line with integrated anesthetic (lidocaine). After injecting the hyaluronic acid, the practitioner gently massages the injected area to mold the product. The injection session lasts around 20 minutes.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural skin component. It acts like a sponge and retains large quantities of water to keep the skin plumped and soft. In the fillers syringes, HA comes in the form of a gel.

What is in dermal fillers?

We use the highest-grade filler solutions, administered at varying levels of thickness depending on the area being treated. Our goal is to achieve the best possible results. Our product Juvéderm® is made from biocompatible, biodegradable materials and contains Hyaluronic Acid, which replaces the naturally existing substance in your skin that repairs damaged tissue and absorbs water to create a plumping effect.

What happens at my dermal fillers consultation?

Your pre-treatment consultation with the practitioner who will be carrying out the hyaluronic acid injection is very important.

Take your time and discuss :

  • Your needs and expectations
  • Treatment options and related products
  • Your medical history

Where on my body can I have dermal fillers?

Lips, cheeks and bridge of the nose are popular areas for adding volume. For smoothing and plumping lines and wrinkles, popular treatment areas include around the forehead, eyes, mouth and chin,

What is a ‘vial’ and how many do I need for my treatment?

A vial is a measurement of the anti-wrinkle injectable liquid administered during treatment. Typically, treatment for nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines) requires 1-2 vials, marionette lines require 1 vial, lips require 1 – 2 vials and cheeks require 2 vials.

How long do dermal fillers last?

You will see results immediately after treatment and up to 12 months, depending on the product used and the area treated. Lip fillers tend to last for six months.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Unlike procedures such as surgical face lifts or implants, dermal fillers require no cuts, incisions or stitches to be made. You may have a tiny bit of discomfort when the needle goes in, with a slight stinging sensation as the filler is applied.

For those feeling anxious, we can use a local anaesthetic to numb the area completely. There may be some swelling or bruising afterwards. The swelling fades within 48 hours; the bruising can take up to a fortnight to fade.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Absolutely safe, when administered correctly by a medical /dentalpractitioner. We have the highest level of regulation in the industry, exceeding all recommended guidelines and requirements. Our clinics are safe, medical environments and your treatment will be carried out only by a highly qualified doctor or nurse. Safety is our number one priority.

Do you offer permanent fillers?

We do not offer permanent fillers, as the long-term risks are unknown. We only use the most trusted semi-permanent fillers on the market.

What if I don’t like the results?

A great amount of time is spent during your consultation to discuss your expectations. We have trained medical practitioners who administer dermal fillers, so there shouldn’t be any surprise or shock results.

However, if you are not happy, your doctor or nurse can administer a solution that dissolves the filler almost instantly, leaving no lasting damage or effect.
