Pacifiers can soothe your child, but as you’ve probably heard, they also come with potential risks of misaligned bite and crooked teeth. Here are some tips on how to use them safely.
- Your child should be weaned off pacifiers by the time they are 2 years old.
- Gradually limit their use as soon as they can coo.
- Only use them as a last resort and preferably only during naps or when they’re asleep.
If your child uses pacifiers, you’ll also want to take them to the dentist to make sure their teeth and jaw are developing normally.
