Dr Susanne B. Mitchell

BDS Cardiff (1980 Birmingham) Dip. Hyp. GDC No: 54645

Susanne started work at the New Road Dental Practice in 1985. She qualified from Cardiff Dental School at the Welsh National School of Medicine in 1980. She worked in South Wales for the next 5 years gaining experience in Children’s Dentistry, Oral Surgery and treating elderly patients. She then worked in the Chepstow Plastic Surgery and Oro-maxillofacial Unit followed by another 2 years as a Registrar in Dentistry in Morriston and Singleton Hospitals in Swansea.

Having grown up In Wychbold and been educated in Worcester, Susanne wanted to return home and started working with Matthew Crisp. He had established the practice in Bromsgrove a few years before. Gradually they expanded the practice on New Road whilst working from one surgery which used to be a sitting room. Working in the evenings and Saturday mornings, they attracted an ever-increasing number of patients, some traveling long distances to be provided with good quality dentistry.

They were joined by the Solanki brothers, (Ravi in 2002 and Pritesh in 2003) who later took over the practice and have allowed the practice to develop in new directions, catering for patients’ needs.

Today, this is a training practice with new dentists gaining experience within the practice, learning expert skills in patient management in their first few years of their dental education.

Dentistry seems to be in Susanne’s genes as her parents were both qualified in Medicine and Dentistry and chose to work in Dentistry. Having a family of her own allowed Susanne to relate to treating the whole family in the dental surgery. Her extensive experience with patients who are nervous and needed encouragement to visit us propelled her to take an extra qualification in advanced dental hypnosis. This equips her to relax patients prior to treatment and allows nervous patients to feel safe and secure in the dental chair.

“We pride ourselves in providing a friendly, happy environment for our patients and their families, welcoming newcomers as well as our many old friends,” says Susanne.
