A disorder of the temperomandibular joint (TMJ) where the lower jaw joins the skull can sometimes lead to teeth moving:
– If TMJ disorder results in teeth grinding (bruxism) and remains untreated it can result in teeth shifting position.
– This can lead to a misaligned bite and crooked teeth.
– Anyone with symptoms such as jaw pain, ear pain or clicking noises when the jaw is moving should book an appointment with the dentist.
“For some people, bruxism can increase their risk for a problem with these jaw joints. For others, TMJ issues lead to jaw clenching or teeth grinding.”
