Gum recession is when the gums pull away from the teeth and it can lead to teeth sensitivity or even tooth loss. Good oral hygiene habits including regular dentist appointments help prevent gum recession.
Key takeaways:
- Gum disease due to a build-up of bacteria and plaque can be a major cause of gum recession.
- Brush your teeth gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush as aggressive brushing can irritate the gums.
- Teeth grinding can worsen gum recession since it places additional pressure on the gums.
“If you focus on preventing gum disease with proper oral care, a nutritious diet, and regular dental visits, it’ll go a long way towards preventing gum recession!”
